Our Experience Harmony Home Health Care is a family owned and operated business in Fergus Falls. Our Agency is owned by a mother and two daughters. Over the years, our family has experienced the emotional rollercoaster of having a medically fragile loved one, Erin, for over 25 years. We are devoted family members and nurses enabling Erin’s needs to be met at home. We have experienced home health care as family members, as employees, and now as owners. We feel our Agency is different than other Agencies, because we understand.
	Erin was born prematurely and was chronically ill with pneumonias starting at 2 months. When she was 6 months, she received her routine immunizations. It was “suspected” that she had an allergic reaction to her Pertusiss Vaccine, because within 24 hours of the vaccine she started having seizures. However, her initial diagnosis was Cerebral Palsy. Her seizure activity started out with Absence seizures but soon progressed to Grand Mal activity. Her Grand Mal seizures caused apnea episodes requiring her parents to perform rescue breathing.
Over the years, Erin has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Congenital Lung Deformity, Congenital Heart Deformity, Pnuemothorax, Pericardial Effusion, Congenital Postural Deformity, Chronic Respiratory Failure, and Epilepsy. She currently has a trach, ventilation system, and a feeding tube. She requires 24 hour Complex Private Duty Nursing Care for constant nursing assessment. The nurses also assist her with Gastric tube feedings, nebulizer treatments, medication administration, BD vest treatments, cough assist therapy, oxygen administration, trach cares and suctioning, and assistance with all personal cares.
	We have seen what poor nursing care can do to Erin’s health, and what excellent nursing care can do. Poor nursing care has caused hospitalizations with scary moments, because of her poor respiratory health. Excellent nursing has prevented reoccurring hospitalizations. We have also seen home health agencies treat Erin like a medical record, instead of a person. It was very frustrating for us to call her home care agency, and they didn’t know who we were or what care Erin was receiving. Seeing this, along with our own experiences as family members and as nurses, motivated us to start a home care agency that was different. A home care agency with owners that care and that understand what you and your family are going through.
Our Agency will go the extra mile to make sure our patients and their families are satisfied with the care being provided. We feel that when our patient’s are unable to communicate their needs, their loved ones are often the best advocates. We want you and your loved ones to feel comfortable about the staff in your home, and about the care they are providing. You will not be another medical record number in our file.
